In the Light of the Lord: Apostolist Summer 2010 Season

For young adults in their 20’s and 30’s, join us this summer for

Sunday, 6/27 Apostolist Ice Cream Social: Kick off the Summer season with fellowship and frozen treats. After the 5:15 pm Mass, in the back of Church.

Sunday, 7/18 Theology of the Body Book Club: A discussion group exploring Pope John Paul II's teaching on love, sex & marriage. Organizational meeting 6:30 to 7:30 pm in the parish center (405 W 59th St, between 9th and 10th Ave). Further dates TBD.

Wednesday, 7/21 Young Adult Mass in Central Park: Meet outside St. Paul's on Wednesday at 6:30 pm. We will walk to the park as a group.

Sunday, 7/25 Question Box: Fr. Gil Martinez answers all those theology questions you always wanted to ask a priest. 6:30 to 8:00 pm in the parish center.

Saturday, 8/7 Church Scavenger Hunt: Enjoy fellowship and exploration as you let your clues take you through a tour of the city and discover its Catholic tradition. 1 to 4 pm. Meet at the parish center.

Fri to Sun, 8/13 - 8/15 Young Adult Retreat - "Go Forth to Love and Serve": Join with fellow young adults for a weekend retreat at the Graymoor Spiritual Life Center in Harrison, NY.

Saturday, 8/28 Scoop and Serve at Covenant House: Help host an ice cream social for homeless teens at Covenant House New York. 2 to 4 pm, 460 W 41st Street (between 9th & 10th Ave).

Sunday, 9/12 End of Summer BBQ: Wrap up the summer with fellowship and delicious grilled food! 6:30 to 9:00 pm, meet in the parish center.

For young adults in their 20s and 30s, join us this winter for:

 

  • Friday, 4/9
    "What Happened at Easter?" An event for anyone who's ever wondered what the big deal is about Jesus, really. 7 pm in the St. Paul the Apostle parish center (405 W 59th St).
     
  • Sunday, 4/11 
    Spring Homeless Banquet: Come serve hot meals and share your afternoon with our guests. 11 am to 3 pm. Enter through the parish center.
     
  • Sunday, 4/18
    Karaoke Night: Sing your heart out, or pretend that you can. 6:30 to 8 pm in the parish center.
     
  • Saturday, 4/24
    Hands on New York Day: Help revitalize New York City parks as part of a citywide day of service. For more information or to join the Apostolist team, visit www.handsonnewyorkday.org/stpaultheapostle
     
  • Wednesday, 4/28
    Teaching Mass with Fr. Gil Martinez: Everything you ever wanted to know about the Mass, but were afraid to ask. 7 pm in St. Paul's crypt chapel.
     
  • Sundays, 5/2, 16 & 23
    Vocation: A Call from God: A three-week faith-sharing discussion series on understanding God's call in our lives. A light meal will be served. 6:30 to 8 pm in the parish center.
     
  • Saturday, 6/12
    The Rosary, A Journey to the Beloved: Come hear author Gary Jansen reflect on the power and practice of praying the rosary. 3 pm in the parish center.
     
  • Sunday, 6/20
    Rooftop Wine and Cheese Social: Celebrate the beginning of summer with food, drink and fellowship on St. Paul's rooftop terrace. 6:30 pm.

Adoremus: The Apostolist 2010 Winter Season

For young adults in their 20s and 30s, join us this winter for:

  • Saturday, 1/9
    Art Pilgrimage: Come see James Tissot’s brilliant watercolors of “The Life of Christ” at
    the Brooklyn Museum. $10 ticket. Meet in front of St. Paul's at 12 noon.

  • Sunday, 1/10
    Sing-and-Learn: Kick off the 2010 young adult choir season with this mixer followed
    by rehearsal. We will meet in the Parish Center (405 W 59th St) at 6:30 pm.

  • Friday, 1/22
    Men’s Poker/Ladies’ Movie Night: Come enjoy an evening of fellowship and fun.
    Both events from 7–10pm in the Parish Center.

  • Sunday, 2/7
    Winter Homeless Banquet: Come serve hot meals and share your a"ernoon with our
    guests. 11am–3pm. Enter through the Parish Center.

  • Wednesday, 2/10
    Teaching Mass with Fr. Gil Martinez: Everything you ever wanted to know about the
    Mass―but were afraid to ask. 7pm in the crypt chapel. Enter through the Parish Center.

  • Fri–Sun, 2/12–14
    Young Adult Retreat: Prepare yourself for Lent at the Paulist Retreat Center in
    Oakridge, NJ. Details to come.

  • Fridays, 2/26 & 3/19
    Lenten Fish Fry: Join us a"er Stations of the Cross for Fish, Fellowship and Faithsharing.
    7–10pm in the Parish Center.

  • Wednesday, 3/3
    Young Adult Mass: Celebrate Christ’s sacrifice in St. Paul’s historic crypt chapel. 7pm.

9/20: Sing and Learn

Want to learn the songs we’ll sing at the 5:15 pm Mass for the next 3 weeks? Come
to the parish center (405 W 59th St.) for a mixer followed by a choir rehearsal

9/29: Young Adults Mass in Central Park

While we still can... Meet outside St. Paul's (60th St. & 9th Ave.) at 6:00pm

10/17: New York Cares Day

Help fix up a local public school as part of a city-wide day of service.

10/30: Halloween Party
